Coordination committee for SK - UA cooperation

Working meeting was organised in the frame of the ZIP project

The meeting of the working meetings of the coordination committee of Košice Region (KSK), Prešov Region (PSK), Transcarpathian public administration (Zoša), Transcarpathian Regional Council (ZOR), Agency for the Support of Regional Development Košice (KE ARR), Regional Development Agency Zakarpattia (Transcarpathian ARR) and other invited parties was organised on 27/09/2016 at Zemplínska Šírava.

Summary of the previous meeting and information on intergovernmental committees were presented. The priorities of the Ukrainian side: the small border crossings and transport infrastructure. ZOR is engaged in cross-border cooperation with all four neighboring countries bordering the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine. Many problem areas can be solved only together.
Presentations on the information about land-use plans with emphasis on the borderland zone was showed and discussed. The discussion focused almost exclusively of border crossings, particularly the future motorway linking Slovak planed D1 motorway and Ukrainian planned highway. Continued interest in the opening of new border crossings was presented and accented.
There are ideas for future joint projects, which have been summarized in various documents and need to be discussed. Areas for perspective cooperation was identified. There is interest in cooperation and at the same time, it was stated that there is much room for improving cooperation.
