CLIMADAM

Adaptation strategy for climate change and mitigation activities for the Slovak-Ukrainian border region.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The project aims to improve the integrity and accountability of public institutions in Slovakia and Ukraine: participatory strategic planning processes involve the general public. This approach, together with the provision of all available information used in the project, will ensure that the proposed measures at project output will be more effective and cheaper than in the case of “central and directive” planning. If the public is informed, has information available, bad and expensive solutions can be avoided.
Expected results of the project:
Developed important strategic documents for the Transcarpathian region and the Košice region related to the topic of climate change; Transfer of know-how and best practices in the field of climate change adaptation and sustainable mobility; Better availability of important information to the general public.

Final beneficiaries:

Thanks to the strategies, decision-makers at regional and local level will be prepared for the next steps. Strategic planning will provide an opportunity to respond systematically and more effectively to expected (but also current) climate change.

Researchers will receive new information from abroad (neighboring region). They can also provide analytical inputs to forthcoming documents and also have the opportunity to continue and develop research.

The general public will have the opportunity to participate in strategic planning and receive new information that can help them make decisions at the personal level (some types of adaptation are possible “at home”) and to influence decisions at the local level.
