About the Pathways2Resilience Programme

Pathways2Resilience (P2R) is a five-year initiative aimed at strengthening the resilience of European regions and communities to the impacts of climate change. The programme is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Programme as part of the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. The initiative is coordinated by Climate KIC and implemented by a consortium of 14 partners from 10 European countries, bringing together experts in climate adaptation, regional development, finance, and innovation. The programme supports more than 100 regions and communities across Europe in developing transformative pathways towards climate resilience.

Partners:

  • This initiative, coordinated by Climate KIC, builds on the expertise of 14 partners from 10 countries and draws on a wide range of knowledge and skills, as well as access to an extensive network of regions across Europe.

Climate KIC, Deltares, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), RCCC, ERRIN, Local Governments Initiative (LGI), International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED Europe), Tecnalia, Regions4, PPMI, Athens University of Economics and Business, Paul Watkiss Associates, Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation.

Project objectives:

The aim is not only to manage climate risks, but also to address their systemic root causes through transformative adaptation, while fostering innovation and capacity building. The programme also provides financial and technical support to 100 regions to help them develop climate resilience strategies and action plans.

Particular emphasis is placed on less developed and vulnerable regions, supporting them in strengthening their adaptive capacity and long-term sustainability. The Košice Region is among the 100 supported regions within P2R that have received financial and technical assistance to enhance climate resilience. The CORESI project will be implemented in this region, focusing on the preparation and implementation of transformative adaptation measures.
