Austria will host the car-free conference

The puremobility2puremountains conference marks the end of the ETC Southeast Europe project ACCESS2MOUNTAIN. Following the project principle “sustainable mobility and tourism in sensitive areas of the Alps and the Carpathians” the whole conference takes place in a highly protected area – the National Park Gesäuse – and is designed as car-free event.

Start of the event will be at Franz Joseph Station in Vienna. During the common train ride an interactive conference will take place. An interesting programme is waiting for the participant - joy ride on one of the most spectacular railroads in the Alps, field trip to the Willow Dome and Ecological Footprint and visit of the Monastery Library Admont.
The programme of the conference will focus on sustainable mobility, presentation of existing good practices on introduction of cleaner modes of transport and elimination of individual transport in mountainous tourist locations in Europe. At the end of the conference signature of a common charter of the ACCESS2MOUNTAIN project is expected in which the project partners commit themselves to the sustainable tourism mobility development in the Alpine and Carpathian region.
In the upcoming weeks people interested in ACCESS2MOUNTAIN project and the above mentioned topics can meet at the “Rušňoparáda” (26/04/2014 in Locomotive depot in Košice). Latest investments of the Slovak partner in the Košice region will be marking of the proposed cycle route between Slanec, Nový Salaš, Slánska Huta and the border of Hungary, which is part of the planned intermodal route linking the Slovak and Hungarian part of the Milič. Within the project elements of small scale cycling infrastructure will be purchased lately in April that will be installed in Košice and Jasov.
